Kittle Hobby was started in 1968 by Peter Banks, initially as something to do, after he had retired from industry through ill health. The name Kittle Hobby originated in the village of that name, situated on the Gower perninsular, South Wales. It was soon a mecca for serious modellers. 'In house' items made for them by Heljan in 'O' scale are the signal box, footbridge & station; the later was loosely modelled on Par station in Cornwall.

Kittle Hobby not only sell railway models, but model car & motor bike kits, dolls house kits & accessories, live steam models and brass section. Since August 1999 the business has been transferred to Penycae in the wild and beautiful Brecon Beacons, where larger premises enable them to keep larger stocks. From a tiny advert in the Railway Modeller, the railway busines grew like topsy! and continues today in the hands of the next generation, Chris & Moira Banks. Much has changed in the last 37 years and had he lived, Peter Banks would have been pleased to see the business 'steam' into the 21st century.
